Rich’s NFL Power Rankings – Week 1

LOS ANGELES — There are two things America loves more than anything: football and lists. So we decided to combine the two and tell you, the football-loving public, who the best teams are in the National Football League each week. As always, this is based on nothing more than what I think, which you can take the bank.

  1. Carolina Panthers (2015 record: 15-1) → Most complete team in NFL with league’s reigning MVP.
  2. Arizona Cardinals (13-3) → Top tier coach, top tier offense, primed for Super Bowl run.
  3. New England Patriots (12-4) → Does anyone think this team isn’t going to the AFC Championship?
  4. Green Bay Packers (10-6) → Rodgers has full compliment of weapons returning.
  5. Houston Texans (9-7) → Watt returns early and Osweiler has looked stout.
  6. Seattle Seahawks (10-6) → Russell Wilson is going to have an MVP season.
  7. Cincinnati Bengals (12-4) → Stellar D will back up a make-or-break year for Andy Dalton.
  8. Kansas City Chiefs (11-5) → Andy Reid’s most complete team will win AFC West.
  9. Pittsburgh Steelers (10-6) → Despite no Le’Veon for 3 games will have Top 5 offense.
  10. Indianapolis Colts (8-8) → Luck’s return will make up for lack of running game.
  11. New Orleans Saints (7-9) → Defense won’t be all-world bad again.
  12. Washington Redskins (9-7) → It’s Kirk Cousins’s team but is that a good thing?
  13. New York Giants (6-10) → Eli career year in 2015 should be even better this season.
  14. New York Jets (10-6) → If Fitzmagic is close to 2015 self Jets could sneak into playoffs.
  15. Denver Broncos (12-4) → Won Super Bowl with spotty QB play but
  16. Jacksonville Jaguars (5-11) → Lotta weapons, lotta upside. Team on the rise.
  17. Oakland Raiders (7-9) → Bandwagon is nearly full and with reason.
  18. Buffalo Bills (8-8) → Tyrod Taylor will put up numbers but will anyone else?
  19. Minnesota Vikings (11-5) → Losing Bridgewater hurts but having #28 is still golden.
  20. Atlanta Falcons (8-8) → Put up or shut up time for Matty Ice.
  21. Dallas Cowboys (4-12) → Two rookies will carry team but will Dez be happy?
  22. Tampa Bay Buccaneers  (6-10)→ Could be a surprise team in NFC.
  23. Los Angeles Rams (7-9) → Todd Gurley might break the carries record this season.
  24. San Diego Chargers (4-12) → Talented but need to stay healthy
  25. Chicago Bears (6-10)→ Jay Cutler is still the QB. That’s all.
  26. Miami Dolphins (6-10) → Who knows what this team will look like.
  27. Baltimore Ravens (5-11) → Flacco’s health is key but defense isn’t what it used to be.
  28. Cleveland Browns (3-13) → Look at your fantasy league: how many Browns got drafted?
  29. Detroit Lions (7-9) → We know what Stafford is but can Tate be Megatron-lite?
  30. Tennessee Titans (3-13) → Need to see more of Mariota in Year 2 to be a believer.
  31. San Francisco 49ers (5-11)→ Two words: Blaine Gabbert.
  32. Philadelphia Eagles (7-9)→ Bradford trade/Kelly sell-off signifies white flag season.
